Silent Night

Here is a photo of the Silent Night Chapel (Stille Nacht Kapelle) in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria. This is a replica of the chapel where the famous Christmas song, Silent Night, was first performed on December 24, 1818 - two hundred years ago this very Christmas Eve.

Enough history... Last night the choir singers of Facility C, at the California Correctional Center, gave their Christmas performance to a capacity crowd. The singers were joined by participants in the Literary Group of the Arts In Corrections program who read poems and essays they had created during the semester. A second concert involving the men of Facilities A and B will take place this Thursday in a much larger setting. Members of the Susanville Choral Society supported the Tuesday show, and will be back to support the Thursday production as well. Unfortunately, the concerts are not open to the public - only those that reside or work inside this gated community are permitted to attend.
